The overarching goal of this
course is to give students a new language. This language of creative thinking is developed through each lesson and workshop students will be involved in. Each lesson gives students the opportunity to refine their critical thinking skills and consider various alternative methods of thinking. These opportunities are formed from the framework of this course: Discovering, Exploring and Internalizing. |
This course will encourage
students to discover new artists, methodologies, and contemporary ideas in arts and society. When students discover these new concepts and ideas in each lesson, they analyze what makes them valid. They will discuss reasons for certain conclusions, and determine their own thought-out and logical opinion. |
Through the analysis of
the concepts presented in class, students will learn to gather information, test their conclusions, and evaluate and support their own thoughts, making their learning a personal discovery. Students will expand their knowledge further through exploring unfamiliar techniques and processes, while also broadening their ideas of art past traditional or pre-existing notions. Students will also explore different aspects of their life and embrace these new explorations in their artwork. |
Each individual student will be engaged in their own learning and personal development. By taking
in and making these new explorations and discoveries an integral part of their attitudes and beliefs. |
